The museum is located two miles south of Branson at the College of the Ozarks campus on Point Lookout. The primary focus of the museum is to collect, preserve, interpret and exhibit items relating to the Ozarks region including antiques, weapons and artifacts. One of the most famous items exhibited is the original vehicle used in the TV series "The Beverly Hillbillies."
